Acoustic guitar repair…. An unusual ringing on the high E string?
I purchased an electric Acoustic guitar about a week ago. I originally experienced fret buzz but I immediately had it fixed. Now I am experiencing a high pitch ringing noise on the higher E string, It only occurs when fretting the note, or by strumming hard. The sound occurs whether I’m plugged in or not… but if the guitar is plugged in…. the sound becomes much more evident. The sound is similar to the sound of a slight high pitch un-natural ringing…. similar to what you would expect if your mic was up to loud or to close to your amplifier. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions to help me cure this problem? And by the way…. I’ve been playing for a while, so I know that it isn’t my hand positioning that is causing the problem… any tips?
since you just had it fixed for fret buzz my guess is you are getting some sort of harmonic ring from one of the frets. Does the high pitch change as you move finger position? ALSO… I have noticed that SOME guitart greate freaky non harware related harmoic ringing…. I recorded an album once and noticed that when I played a certain chord it make a sound eerily similar to that of an organ..who knows! I would have it checked out by the person who repaired it the first time… also as a preventive measure… buy a guitar humidifier… they work wonders at keeping the guitars neck from warping!

Reference tuning, . Relative tuning . Electronic tuning. These processes are the same regardless of whether the guitar is electric or acoustic, or whether it has nylon or steel strings…. |
