Do I need a guitar humidifier?

I have a very expensive Elvis Dove Acoustic guitar, and I love it so I want to make sure nothing happens to it. I live in Los Angeles and whenever I’m not playing the guitar, it’s in a case under a table. The air-conditioning is on much of the time in my house…. Umm, so do I need one?

Most guitar manufacturers say that you need to keep the humidity between 45% and 55% where you keep your guitar. You need to buy a humidity gauge – they’re inexpensive – and see what the humidity in your house is. Only if it’s below the range I specified will you need to humidify your instrument.
