Whats a good electric guitar?
I already have an acoustic guitar and i want to get an electric one. I went to a store and they said they had a deal where you could get and electric guitar and amp + a strap, picks and dvd for a pretty cheap price. The guitar was a fender (I think a stratocaster). Do you think its a good deal? And is there a better deal out there, or a better guitar.
I don’t have a lot of experience with the all-in-one packs, but I can tell you that buying piece by piece will get you better equipment. And cost more. In other words, it’s okay to start with an all-in-one pack if that’s all you can afford, but start saving up for better gear or buy better gear outright if you can afford it.
A large part of selecting an electric guitar comes down to what you want to do with it. If you want an aggressive sound you go one way, a cleaner/bluesy/worship/anything else sound you go a different way… Fender guitars are usually cleaner sounding, while guitars with humbucker pickups and thicker bodies are usually meant for more aggressive sounds.
My biggest advice is to sit down and play the guitar and see how it feels in your hands. If it doesn’t feel right, you won’t want to play it. That’s not an easy thing to do, if you are a newbie to guitar playing, but force yourself to sit down with a guitar (have a friend teach you one chord or one riff) and play three or four different guitars and go with the one that seems to play the best for you.
You can upgrade the pickups, buy a better amplifier, add effects pedals, and all that other stuff, but if the guitar doesn’t feel right in your hands you won’t be able to play like you want to.
